AMT Gravedigger

After a month & almost two trips to the trash I finally got it finished.  The instruction sheet had several parts in the wrong place, so test fitting is a must before glueing. I found that out after glueing several parts on, found they were in the wrong place & had to try to unglue them & put them on right.  The flame decal is one piece & does not want to conform to to the hood & fenders. Plenty of Microset & Microsol is needed for minimal wrinkles.

Vodafone rewards its customers as Jenson performs in Manchester (+Photos)

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KF008HlnuhE/Tl98pLXvISI/AAAAAAAAHYQ/QkBLrMUwN7w/s1600/Vodafone_VIP_Live_In_Mancherster-2825.jpg

Vodafone rewards its customers as Jenson Button drives through the streets of Manchester in
his Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1™ car

Vodafone VIP brought a taste of Formula 1™ to the heart of Manchester city centre this weekend, with F1™ driver Jenson Button and the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team staging a celebration of the sport.

Crowds lined Deansgate on Monday (29th Aug) afternoon for the highlight of the Bank Holiday, as Jenson Button revved up his Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1™ car and drove it through one of Manchester’s busiest streets. Button also treated two lucky Vodafone customers to a thrilling drive through Manchester city centre in a McLaren MP4-12C sports car, before ending the day with an on-stage, public Q&A appearance.

Jenson enjoyed the day enormously, commenting:

“I think Vodafone VIP has done a brilliant job to make this happen – it can’t have been easy – but to see the looks on people’s faces when I opened up the throttle, was a fantastic moment. It is all about giving something back to the fans and just unleashing the awesome power of a Formula 1 car. It was a lot of fun.”

Jenson’s appearance was just one part of a three day event. From Saturday 27 to Monday 29 of August, Vodafone customers and friends enjoyed the Vodafone VIP Fanzone in Albert Square. The Fanzone contained a bespoke Go Kart Track, and a number of interactive F1™ experiences, including a pit stop challenge, a sit in Vodafone McLaren Mercedes car, an F1™ simulator and an exhibition of race suits and helmets. Throughout the weekend there was also a pit garage on the forecourt of the Hilton Deansgate in which Vodafone customers had the opportunity to go behind the scenes in the team’s garage.

The celebration was part of Vodafone’s drive to reward as many of its customers as possible. Previous Vodafone VIP events have been based in London and the South East so by bringing F1 to the North West, Vodafone VIP are aiming to reach a wider audience and thank even more of their customers.

Councillor Pat Karney, of Manchester City Council, said:

‘Vodafone VIP Live is a great example of the sort of unmissable events which Manchester stages and a great way show what our city has to offer. We are extremely grateful to Vodafone who provided the opportunity to have the I Love MCR logo printed on the side of the car. Word of the campaign has spread fast, so it's entirely fitting that an F1 car bearing the campaign logo should be seen racing down Deansgate’

The F1™ event in Manchester is just one element of Vodafone VIP, which gives customers access to the best of British festival, fashion and Formula 1™ events. Vodafone VIP provides customers with the hottest tickets and money can’t buy experiences. All Vodafone customers can register for Vodafone VIP by going online.

Ferrari F150th Italia is now Ferrari 150° Italia..!

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mXNKY36Oets/TXMyWmLFszI/AAAAAAAAHRk/f2UOiEMdSGA/s1600/Ferrari%2BF150th%2BItalia%2Bis%2Bnow%2BFerrari%2B150%25C2%25B0%2BItalia.jpg

Ferrari have apparently proceeded to a second name tweak for their 2011 F1 challenger, following the controversy surrounding the initial designation of the car back in January. According to the “Horse Whisperer” column – an online interface commonly used by Ferrari to share its likes and dislikes with the world – the new name of the racer will be Ferrari 150° Italia.

“It might seem like a Kafkaesque scenario, but the affair relating to the name of the car with which Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa will tackle this year's Formula 1 World Championship saw its final and decisive episode played out these past few days with the concomitant withdrawal by Ford of the summons. Therefore common sense has prevailed,” wrote the columnist.

The car’s initial name was Ferrari F150, but in mid-February was changed to F150th Italia as a result of the legal proceedings issued by American carmaker Ford to the US District Court in Detroit.

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OaGrwORjt9w/TXMsv9MVfbI/AAAAAAAAHRU/hdzJC20hP8E/s1600/Ford-F150-Pickup.jpg
Ford-F150-Pickup

This situation occurred because Ferrari’s car name and logo resembled Ford’s trademark for their line of pick-up trucks, the famous F-150. A couple of days back, Ford announced it has filed a notice with the US court for dismissal of the case, after it had reached an amicable agreement with their Italian counterparts.

In order to avoid the slightest risk of anyone confusing a Formula 1 car with a pick-up truck, for their part, the men from Maranello have decided that the car will lose the F that precedes the number 150 and which stands for Ferrari, as it has done on numerous occasions when it's come to giving a car a code name, be it for the race track or the road

It appears that this could have caused so much confusion in the minds of the consumer across the Pond that, at the same time as losing the F, the name will be completely Italianised, replacing the English 'th' with the equivalent Italian symbol.

Therefore the name will now read as the Ferrari 150° Italia, which should make it clear even to the thickest of people that the name of the car is a tribute to the anniversary of the unification of our country.

Let's hope the matter is now definitely closed and that we can concentrate on more serious matters, namely ensuring that our car that already seems to be pretty good out of the box, becomes a real winner.

Official: Liuzzi announced as HRT's second driver

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JMrwUo-8yYo/TXjnLy39DCI/AAAAAAAAHRs/yqvMzc-sBW4/s1600/Liuzzi%2Bannounced%2Bas%2BHRT%2527s%2Bsecond%2Bdriver.jpg

The 2011 Formula 1 field is finally complete, after Hispania Racing F1 Team confirmed yesterday (March 9), the signing of former Force India driver Vitantonio Liuzzi for a full campaign in 2011.

After being ousted by Force India, he will be Narain Karthikeyan’s teammate, and will drive the new Hispania car later this week in Barcelona.

HRT also said on Wednesday that it will launch and debut the Cosworth-powered F111 on Friday.

I am really happy to have signed this agreement with Hispania Racing,” said Liuzzi in a statement for the press.

I never lost hope to be in Formula 1 as I knew I have the experience and the right attributes for a young and ambitious team. I face a new challenge now and this excites me. I also face a lot of hard work in guiding Hispania Racing through the development of our new car.

I am extremely grateful to Jose Ramon Carabante and to Colin Kolles for giving me such an opportunity.

- Vitantonio Liuzzi

I have known Tonio for many years as he raced with me in lower categories. He is a very professional driver who will bring a lot of benefits to the team. I am convinced about his skills to develop a car and his speed. He has shown this in the past having contributed to a large extent developing and moving a back of the grid car to the front.

Team order rule needs a re-think

Jean Todt arives for Wednesday's hearing © Getty Images
Formula One should look at abolishing the controversial ban on team orders after Ferrari escaped further punishment for their manipulation of the German Grand Prix result. That is the view of the Daily Telegraph’s Tom Cary, who is of the opinion that the team orders rule now needs to be seriously looked at because of its obvious shortcomings.
“Whether you are for or against team orders, if the FIA could not back up its own rules and nail a competitor in a blatant case such as this the rule really does need reviewing. Perhaps Ferrari’s thinly-veiled threat to take the matter to the civil courts if they were punished too harshly scared the governing body, who as much as admitted the flimsiness of its rule."
Paul Weaver, reporting for the Guardian in Monza, was in favour of the ruling which keeps alive Ferrari’s slim chances in an enthralling championship.
“The World Motor Sport Council was right not to ruin a compelling Formula One season by taking away the 25 points Alonso collected in Germany. That would have put him out of the five-man title race. But the council was widely expected to increase the fine and possibly deduct points from the team, as opposed to the individual. In the end, it could be argued that common sense prevailed. But the decision will dismay those who were upset by the way Ferrari handled the situation as much as anything else.”
The Daily Mail's Jonathan McEvoy expressed outrage at the FIA tearing up its own rule book by allowing Ferrari to escape unpunished.
"Although the race stewards fined them £65,000 for giving team orders in July, the FIA World Motor Sport Council, to whom the matter was referred, decided not to impose any further punishment. It leaves the sport's rulers open to derision. It was, after all, their rule they undermined. In a statement, the WMSC said the regulation banning team orders 'should be reviewed'."

Aston Martin DBS... French-ed

G'day guys... First time posting here in the Race Car forum, I'm usually only found in the Muscle Car forum but I gotta do the right thing & post this baby here... Well it is a sports car Wink

It's the Tamiya Aston DBS. Paint is Tamiya French Blue. It'll be box-stock except I've gone to the parts-box for better, low-profile tyres, Bridgestone Potenzas Thumbs Up. I wanted to tone down the chrome wheels without stripping the chrome, if you know what I mean? So as the pics show, I masked off the face of the rims with BMF & sprayed some Testors Black-chrome trim from behind them.... Here's what I've got so far...

Rims masked off...

Result...

Body in colour...

I'll update as I get things done...

Cheers, Cliffo Wink
