Lexus LFA

Lexus LFA

I have been wanting to build this since I picked it up last year at the LBGP from Tamiya, but needed to get some things in order (finished), and decide on a color.  I decided last night…

The body is very thin and crisply molded.  I spent about 2-3 hours cleaning up the delicate mold lines on all the body and wing parts.  Primed it with Tamiya fine white primer and put a base coat of TS-45 Pearl White down.

I found a non-pearl white (at least is does not look pearl in the photos) version with a carbon fiber top and rear wing that looks sharp to me.  I used ScaleMotorSports Hi-Def decals (1/20 scale to make the pattern a bit more pronounced).

Once the decal had dried, I clear coated it.

So, I pulled this one out of the basement.  It must have been early 2000's when I started it.  I haven't really built anything since and thought about getting this one up to par.  My son wants to help or at least watch.  So, it should be fun.  I'm out of pretty much everything as far as materials go.  I will have to make a run to Hobby Lobby this weekend!

I thought it would be kind of cool to do something a little different than what's on the box.  Just not sure what yet.  I'm not set on keeping Red either.  Also, any suggestions on some cool wheels or anything else you can think of for this one?

Harley with P38 Sidecar - Just for crazy people - LOL.

I know this is in the wrong place, but thought it would be fun to share this with you guys here before it gets moved. There's a pic of the inspiration at the end.

This was so fun to build and so way outside the box of modeling for me, crossing two totally different modeling worlds, but the real thing was so over the top, I just had to build something like it. Not really very close to scale between the two, but close enough for fun Cool.

The fuselage was prett heavily modified, cut up, re-shaped, and re-purposed to make it look somewhat believeable. The decals were old and "scrungy" in the beat up box the plane was in, so the "grungy"  decals worked great, so the plane looks old and used somewhat, and it took two P38 kits 1/32 and 1/48 to make it all happen.. The frame that connects the two was scratchbuilt, and there was a lot of things done to give it "Army Personality" Smile

Sometimes things that make the least sense, are the most fun.
